Chester County Rural Fire Service

The Chester County Rural Fire Service Department plays a crucial role in protecting lives and property in the unincorporated areas of the county. They coordinate and support the various volunteer fire departments within the rural districts, ensuring firefighters are properly trained and equipped to respond to emergencies.

The department also maintains records of fire calls and equipment, conducts fire investigations and inspections (excluding the Chester City Fire District), and offers fire prevention education. Furthermore, they operate an extensive fire-related materials library and manage the Chester County Emergency Services Training Center, providing vital training facilities for all emergency agencies.

Responsibilities and Services

The Chester County Rural Fire Commission establishes guidelines for the County Fire Service and rural departments.

Responsibilities and services include:

planning and ensuring volunteer fire chiefs and firefighters receive proper training in firefighting techniques and equipment use, enabling effective responses to fire emergencies and related situations.
maintaining records of rural fire department calls, training, major equipment inventory, and trucks; resulting in an extensive library of fire-related materials and code books is available for classroom and on-site training.
conducting fire investigations, inspections, prevention plan reviews, and complaint investigations throughout Chester County, excluding the Chester City Fire District.

Training Center

The Chester County Emergency Services Training Center offers a dedicated facility accommodating classroom-based learning for all emergency response agencies and live fire instruction for fire service personnel. Key features include a 3-story Class A burn tower and props designed for hazmat and rescue training scenarios.
